“ Together, we can transform the lives of farm animals in Thailand
PROJECT COLLABORATORS
WORLD ANIMAL PROTECTION
World Animal Protection is on a mission to end animal cruelty and suffering. Evidence shows that animals are sentient, individual beings who feel pain, fear, and joy. Yet, every day, billions of them experience unbearable cruelty. Putting animals first isn’t just better for them, it’s vital for us and for our shared planet. With your support, we can end the cruelty and exploitation of farmed and wild animals. In this project, World Animal Protection has been the main support in this mission with Patom and Kiddee Farm.
PATOM ORGANIC LIVING
Patom uses traditional wisdom to create products under our concept of Organic Living. Raw materials are sourced from local organic farmers supported by the Sookjai Foundation.
We connect with over 200 local organic farmers to grow for us. Sookjai Foundation acts as a link to the farmers to ensure organic standard, quality and traceability. Patom’s role in this project is to raise awareness on high welfare farm animals with communities and business partners in Bangkok who are interested in wellness and sustainability.
‘Plant-based food project by Patom’
Patom Organic Farm is used for research & development on raw materials we use in our organic dishes and products. We also grow a variety of protein alternative seasonal ingredients to produce plant-based dishes for our customers.
KIDDEE FARM
Khun House, the owner of Kiddee farm is a member of Ratchburi organic farmer network under Sookjai Foundation. Kiddee farm is the first chicken farm that implemented Animal High Welfare practice with the support from World Animal Protection (WAP), who provides continuous guidance and assistance to ensure high-welfare standard. Kiddee Farm also work with Suranaree University of Technology in research and development of Korat breed as a local slow growth chicken.
After two years of work and adaptation, WAP’s high welfare standard adopted by Kiddee Farm has been accepted to be a part of Sookjai Foundation’s PGS standard.
Presently, there are approximately 1,500 Korat slow growth breed raised in Kiddee farm where these chickens are cared for in according with World Animal Protection’s high welfare farm standards. Kiddee farm’s future objectives include empowering and lead other farms to transform into high welfare farm through knowledge sharing and workshops.
THE BENEFITS OF FARM ANIMAL WELFARE
Bringing about change to improve farm animal welfare has countless benefits to animals, people and the environment :
• Raising animals humanely is better for the animals throughout its life. For Farmers, it can use less feed, fuel and water
than intensive farming, reducing costs and pollution.
• Higher welfare farms can create new jobs, keep local food supplies healthy and have a unique selling point.
• Organic and high welfare farms can reduce environmental damage – replenish nutrients and improve soil condition.
• Greenhouse gas emissions are reduced from small sustainable farm operations.
